Strategic Analysis of the Renewable Energy Market in East Africa
The five countries which comprise this study on the East African Renewables Market: Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, all have low rates of electrification as well as low levels of power generation. Each of these five countries does, however, have an abundance of natural resources that are suitable for renewable energy power generation. There exists large amounts of geothermal potential across the Rift Valley, as well as strong solar irradiation and numerous small rivers. Each of these countries is forecast to experience robust economic growth over the next five years, which should drive demand for electricity and prove to be an attarctive investment proposition for both project developers and financiers alike.
