Quick Data Service

For clients who need rapid access to additional or more detailed information than is contained in our research publications, our Quick Data Service can help. By providing focused, detailed, yet brief market reports, this research service answers specific client questions quickly, economically, and cost-effectively.

Our Quick Data Service is ideally suited for small projects that are billed on an hourly, project-fee, or monthly-retainer basis. These projects typically entail a telephone discussion to define the information needed, a quick quote given over the phone, or a one-page fax to outline the price and scope of service. The following four examples of QDS research show why these projects may suit your needs better than one of our large research reports, which analyze every aspect of an industry. You may also wish to look at case studies in your industry: Industrial, Chemicals & Materials, or Communication & Information Technology.

Please include comments as to the specific market, product, or technology you would like to research; the desired scope of the project and region(s) to be covered; and the type(s) of information or measurements you desire, such as market size, market forecasts, company market share, sales distribution, end-user or application data, pricing information, and so forth.

Quick Market Assessment

Our most frequent request is for a quick market assessment or industry overview to meet your time frame. In a typical market assessment we provide market size, projections, major industry trends, and a competitive environment, including issues, such as vendor market share and highlights. One such example:

After visiting an industry trade show, an electronics company was approached by several computer software companies to develop a consumer electronics product integrated into the PC environment. Unfamiliar with this new market application, the company asked us to estimate the potential demand for this product in order to allocate proper R&D funding. During the next two and a half weeks, we interviewed a sample of vendors, system integrators, and potential distributors and provided our client with a report containing enough information to begin focused product development. The same client later requested a full end-user analysis for customer preferences which was managed as a larger Market Engineering Consulting project.

Beyond a Published Study

Sometimes our clients require more detailed information on a particular subject than what they receive in a published Frost & Sullivan report. For these instances, we offer additional research that goes above and beyond the published information. Here's one example:

During their sales planning cycle, a large telecommunications company purchased our report Cellular Telephone and Pager Markets, which provided forecasts by product type. While working with our published study, the client asked if they could obtain further analysis by frequency and by geographic region within the United States. After providing estimates for cost and deliverables, our Quick Data Services group proceeded to gather information through both primary and secondary sources over a three-day period that met the specific needs of our client.

Specific Detail

When you need detail on a very specific market issue - a niche, product pricing/specs, or recent market trends, for example - then this QDS option is available to you. By using secondary research, Frost & Sullivan databases and analyst insight, we provide results. Here's a case exemplifying this type of QDS:

In an effort to find new product applications, an aerospace and defense company needed topical information concerning technological advancements in rotary engines. In less than three days from the request (15 hours of analyst time), by utilizing Frost & Sullivan databases, on-line research, and limited primary research, we prepared a focused report reviewing the current technology.

Competitive Information

Need to know something about your competitors? Perhaps your needs are more specific than any published information available. This is where QDS can really help you. Here's an example:

A large medical company was considering the development of a new healthcare product. During their initial R&D phase, they discovered another medical company was about to release a similar product. Although Frost & Sullivan did not have any specific data on the soon-to-be-released product, our familiarity with the company in question and other medical companies in the market allowed us to perform a competitive assessment addressing our client's specific needs. After clearly defining the focus of the research product, we provided a proposal for the research based on the number of hours we were to spend conducting research. During the next four days (12 hours of analyst time), we interviewed several representatives not only from the primary company but also five other companies competing in the industry. Although information on the unreleased product was not easy to obtain, we were able to provide a written report with the level of insight desired by our client.
