Frost & Sullivan Lauds Ceapro Inc for Product Innovation
Date Published: 27 Apr 2006

London, 27th April 2006 -- The 2006 Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation Award for the European primary care diagnostics market is conferred on Canada-based Ceapro Inc in recognition of its pioneering point-of-care (POC) based type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes diagnostic product. The company’s CeaProve™ represents a breakthrough in diabetes screening, diagnosis and monitoring.

“CeaProve™ is an innovative and unique product with the ability to identify diabetes at an early phase or at the pre-diabetes stage itself,” notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Dr. Fiona Rahman. “The motivation behind CeaProve™’s development is that early detection means earlier intervention in order to better manage, prevent or delay diabetes and mitigate its effects as well as that of associated complications.”

Feedback has shown that 15-20 per cent of patients who have used the product and subsequently altered their lifestyle have experienced dramatically positive results. The turn- around time from pre-diabetic blood sugar levels to normal blood sugar levels occurs in 6-8 weeks, illustrating that it is possible to reverse a pre diabetic condition if detected early enough.
The increased use of POC testing, particularly in the primary care sector, is anticipated to result in improved healthcare delivery and lowered costs over the long term. In this regard, Ceapro Inc has consistently leveraged its core expertise in POC testing, particularly in the diabetes POC segment.

In conjunction with healthcare providers and business owners, Ceapro Inc has launched diabetes screening initiatives, which are widely anticipated to result in significant cost benefits over the long term. Such an approach has also underlined the company’s key role in the promotion of POC diabetes testing and the development of the POC market as a whole.

“By capitalising on its leading roles in both existing and niche markets, Ceapro Inc is well positioned to maintain itself at the centre of the diabetes diagnostic POC segment by supplying innovative concepts, which will cater to the expected growth in demand for point-of-care solutions,” says Dr. Rahman. “This will give the company a competitive advantage as established in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) competitors focus mainly on conventional laboratory-based tests.”
