2011 Japan Telecom Outlook

Mobile Services Revenue Saturated and Expected to Decline in Future

Japan’s telecommunications sector is one of the most active markets in the world. Entering 2011 the market was exhibiting strong competition among the mobile operators in the 3G segment with uptake of the technology reaching almost 100%, and moreover, LTE deployment have also begun. The saturated mobile revenue market of Japan is expected to decline over the forecast period, 2011 to 2016 as a result of continued decline in mobile ARPU and increased competition in mobile broadband space.
