Event Overview

The first two exclusive Strategy Workshops for the logistics fraternity titled 'Future Supply Chain Strategies', held in 2010 and 2011 by Frost & Sullivan’s Transportation and Logistics Practice, established a unique platform for logistics service providers (LSPs) and end users to explore the state of supply chains in Automotive, Electronics and Communications Equipment, Pharmaceutical, and Retail industries. It enabled them to identify the challenges, ways to address them, and above all, envision the potential strategies for the future supply chains of these industries.

Further, the 2011 Workshop focused on evaluating megatrends and critical challenges impacting the Indian logistics sector and delivered a draft on ‘Must Do’ initiatives by LSPs and end users in each key industry to deal with these trends and challenges. The Workshop also successfully established that both LSPs and end users need to develop mutual trust and collaborate in order to address the identified challenges and enhance the performance of both parties.

The highlight of this year's Workshop titled 'Supply Chain Transformations 2012', to be held during 22nd-24th August 2012, would be to emphasize the need for formal policies to address three critical challenges of the logistics sector – collaboration to gain efficiencies, qualified resources shortage, and lack of multimodal logistics. The focus would be on delivering industry-evaluated and vetted draft policies to the Government through a combined effort from the LSPs and end users.

In this endeavor, Frost & Sullivan will facilitate ideation and evaluation of strategies among LSPs, end users, academicians, and Government authorities regarding the three most critical challenges for which formal policies need to be implemented by the Government. Exclusive ‘Power Panels’ comprising the representatives mentioned above are being constituted to develop draft policies that would be evaluated and vetted by all Workshop participants. These industry-approved draft policies would be submitted to the Government by assigned delegations that would recommend their formal implementation.

The Workshop would also present and discuss practical approaches by leading experts on how to transform logistics and supply chain operations across target industries by successfully addressing critical challenges.
