Movers & Shakers Interview with Harvey Wilkinson - Vice President of Business Development, and Chad Hall - Chief Operating Officer of Ioxus

Published: 30 Nov 2010

This Movers & Shakers interview was conducted by Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst Anu Cherian (AC) with Ioxus. Ioxus was represented by Vice President of Business Development Harvey Wilkinson (HW) and Chief Operating Officer Chad Hall (CH). Harvey is responsible for sales, marketing and developing new business opportunities. He previously worked with A123 Systems, a developer and manufacturer of advanced Li-ion batteries and systems. He has also worked at AVESTOR, Beacon Power and Siecor (now Corning Cable Systems). Chad is responsible for manufacturing and testing of standard products, as well as further establishing the company and building the team, increasing sales, locating funding and spurring continued product development. He previously spent 14 years with Custom Electronics, Inc. (CEI).

Ioxus is the highest performing ultracapacitor technology manufactured for the transportation, alternative energy, consumer and industrial markets. The Ioxus family of ultracapacitors is uniquely optimized for high performance with low resistance, ideal for delivering high-power bursts for acceleration, energy recapture, peak load shaving and high-power applications.

You have high-end super-capacitors for renewable energy markets in the automotive industry. Could you at the outset introduce the company as well as the markets, and what do you see as your primary target markets for the company?

HW: I’ll start off by saying that we call them ultracapacitors, but they’re interchangeable between the two terms. Ioxus was found in 2007, and we’re affiliated with Custom Electronics, which was founded in 1964. Custom Electronics produces high-voltage, high-reliability capacitors and systems for military satellite communication, oil & gas exploration and the medical industry. Ioxus was built on Custom Electronics’ long experience of high reliable design and manufacturing, and incorporated into the new technology of ultracapacitors. The primary markets that Ioxus addresses are: transportation, utility, industrial, consumer, automotive, renewable energy and military.
