UAS Trends

  • Military trend is moving away from PORs and focusing more on purchase of smaller systems for rapid deployment
  • Open architecture for C2 to facilitate upgrades and interoperability; plug and play
  • FMS, ITAR reform providing additional opportunities for simulation providers
  • Universal control stations for controlling multiple UAS types and multiple platform types
  • DoD trend has been to move training from contractors to uniformed personnel to save on costs but this can only be taken so far with manpower reductions
  • More simulation for UAS payload video to train operators
  • Increased autonomy
  • Proliferation of commercial UASs of all types
