Asia-Pacific Application Delivery Controller Market Tracker, H1 2015
The APAC Application Delivery Controller (ADC) market earned revenue of $344.3 million in first half of 2015, representing a drop of 0.7% from that of 2014. This decline was attributed to the intersection of SDN and virtual ADC solutions and the increase in focus of vendors on SDN. However, the functions provided by ADCs expand to include rate shaping, SSL offloading, WAN acceleration, WAF, anti DDoS, and so on. As a result, standalone ADCs are expected to gain back the lost traction, especially among service provider and BFSI verticals for high performance. Moreover, as ADCs and SDN are not competing technologies but rather complementing ones and serve mostly the same purpose at different layers, ADC vendors will adopt and support SDN programmability in their switching fabrics, as a means to integrate with a broader SDN initiative.
