The latest US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aerospace forecast predicts that there will be between 2.75 and 4.47 million drones operating in the US by 2021. The same forecast expects between 238,000 and 1.6 million commercial drones operating in the US by 2021. This means that there could be over 6 million small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS) throughout the US by 2021 that could be used to carry small payloads or video to any area or structure desired. In addition, it is estimated that the global number of small drones sold will be 4 times that of US numbers. Therefore, over 20 million flying machines could be potentially used for nefarious purposes including terrorist attacks, industrial espionage, and illegal surveillance. In response to the increasing threats, dozens of commercial companies have adapted existing technologies, or developed new technologies, to detect small drones and alert operators of their presence. In just a few short years, the commercial C-UAS market has exploded from a handful of participants to over 50. Many companies are still pre-revenue, but market entry barriers are relatively low and competition will be fierce over the next 5 years as demand for commercial C-UAS grows rapidly. This research service lists commercial C-UAS and their products that will be competing for a portion of a market, which will quickly transition from a nascent market to a growth market. Research Scope: This research service includes information about commercial C-UAS original equipment manufacturers, their product or products, as well as product capabilities. Product information is presented in tables as well as text. Competitive Information Includes: -Short description of the C-UAS product -Capabilities of C-UAS with regard to detection sensors, capabilities, and whether it can offer target mitigation -Existing company partnerships -Known sales or government contracts won -Future product announcements and/or pending upgrades to current platforms -Links to corporate websites and news items of note -Links to C-UAS product pages, where applicable Questions This Study Will Answer: -Which companies are manufacturing commercial C-UAS? -Which products are being marketed and which are in the development and/or test phase? -Which products have sales and government contracts? -What are some trends occurring in the commercial C-UAS market? -What are the challenges facing the commercial C-UAS market? This research service also contains a description of detection methods along with an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of using each detection sensor. In addition, an estimate of the commercial C-UAS market size is provided through 2022 based on historical sales data and interviews with industry insiders.
