Biometrics: The key to your digital identity?
According to Cisco, the number of mobile-connected devices per capita will reach 1.5 units by 2020. There will be 11.6 billion mobile-connected devices by 2020 globally, including M2M modules—exceeding the world's projected population at that time (7.8 billion). As a result, the need to be strongly identified when accessing cloud-based platforms and Software as a Services (SaaS) solutions will increase and as such, the traditional password and login are no longer enough to enter the digital world. Furthermore, it is not easy to remember a plethora of different passwords, each requiring a unique (and memorable) blend of numbers, symbols, and capital and lowercase letters. While the tech-savvy might use a password locker or similar alternative solutions, the mainstream consumer remains frustrated and perplexed.
