Significant breakthroughs in nanomaterials for applications in energy storage, gas sensing, and materials for hindering microbial growth are seen to be driving the High-Tech materials business. Materials are gaining high interest in health care, such as the use of nanomaterials in medical devices to prevent propagation of diseases due to microbes. Also, nanomaterials have enabled solutions to answer drawbacks of lithium-based storage devices pertaining to cost, ageing, and robustness. Development of materials such as graphene, which has a high surface area, is extremely lightweight, and has high charging capability, is also gaining high interest. Today, nanomaterials are playing a vital role in increasing the efficiency and performance of gas sensors by enabling high sensitivity, good reversibility, excellent stability, and other beneficial attributes. Further, fabricating doped nanomaterial is also a key area of interest as it is aimed at enhancing multi-functionality. Researchers are working toward incremental developments to enable new industrial and commercial benefits.
