This Microelectronics TOE profiles advancements in E-textiles and advanced displays. Innovations in focus include MOCVD systems for cost-effective manufacturing of advanced LEDs, smart yarn for connected applications, integration of LEDs in smart fabrics enabling communication between devices, unbreakable display panels for smartphones, and smart eyewear for blood pressure monitoring. The Microelectronics TechVision Opportunity Engine (TOE) captures global electronics-related innovations and developments on a weekly basis. Developments are centred on electronics attributed by low power and cost, smaller size, better viewing, display and interface facilities, wireless connectivity, higher memory capacity, flexibility and wearables.
