Strategic Analysis of North American In-Vehicle Network Technologies and Protocols

This study details the CAN (controller area network), LIN (local interconnect network), MOST (media oriented systems transport), and FlexRay in-vehicle network technologies and protocols, and briefly discusses several others -- J1850, Byteflight, J1939, time-triggered protocol, time-triggered CAN, IDB 1394, universal serial bus, and D2B SMARTwireX. For the four main protocols, the technology and its automotive applications are discussed, and installation rates in light vehicles sold in North America are forecast through 2012.
