Mobile broadband is a key revenue driver for mobile operators in Russia. Russian operators are embracing this setting through quasi-omnipresent tiered-pricing, alternative pricing and charging models, and by striving to increase the relatively low Russian smartphone penetration. Limited availability of devices, supporting Russian LTE frequencies, is a key barrier to LTE take-up but is expected to erode in the short term. In this research service, Frost & Sullivan has consolidated a range of secondary perspectives on the Russian mobile broadband market that includes a general review of the market and specific coverage of the emergence of LTE, user attitudes, devices, and an operator’s commercial strategy.
