The Asia-Pacific (APAC) software-defined networking (SDN) market earned overall revenue of $3,749.3 million in 2014. Service providers such as NTT Com, China Mobile, and China Unicom were instrumental in spurring this revenue upswing, far more than enterprises, which still maintain a high risk aversion to virtualization trends such as SDN. Leading SDN vendors such as Cisco, Huawei, and Alcatel-Lucent have pointed to the APAC region as their primary growth target after North America, with a growth in local Asian sales offices and increased high-value partnership deals with local resellers and systems integrators.
