Movers & Shakers Interview with Sandeep Kishore, Executive Vice President, Global Head Sales & Practice, Engineering and R&D Services, HCL Technologies

Published: 14 Apr 2011

Sandeep Kishore is responsible for driving Global Sales and Practice for HCL’s Engineering and R&D Services (ERS) business. The organization has seen significant growth in the past two years thanks in part to Kishore’s focus on bringing HCL’s “Engineering Out of the Box (EOOTB)” concept to the benefit of the company’s clients. HCL’s engineering services business is recognized today as an industry leader with ~12 percent market share of the outsourced global engineering services from India. Kishore has created a strong global team, several global partnerships with Fortune 1000 companies, a joint venture opening up new emerging markets, and increased investment in intellectual property and productized solutions.

Kishore was interviewed by Charlie Whelan, Director of Consulting, with Frost & Sullivan on March 25, 2011.

CW:  What is “Engineering Out of the Box” and why did HCL launch the program?

SK:  “Engineering Out of the Box” is our market proposition of how HCL takes our services, plus platform ecosystem innovation, to our product and technology customers. It is no longer enough to only think about product development by itself, because you have to also think about the whole ecosystem, platform and user experience. What “Engineering Out of the Box” does is bring all of these together for customers. It also integrates the perspectives of our customer's customers through platform extensions, ecosystem innovation and, most importantly, the customer’s user experience, all with the goal of encouraging higher adoption of the technology in the long run.
