Company’s PowerCore™ air filters offer superior quality and reliability to the North American aftermarket
Palo Alto, Calif. — February 14, 2006 — Frost & Sullivan recently named Donaldson Company, Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Product Innovation of the Year Award for its unique and innovative air filters with PowerCore™ Filtration Technology that were introduced in the North American Selected Filters Aftermarket.
Donaldson has successfully developed a wide range of PowerCore air intake systems, air cleaners and replacement filters that not only meet the needs of new vehicle models that require longer filter service intervals, but also offer an excellent filter media, improving filtration capacity and efficiency.

Donaldson’s strategy of product innovation adds variety to the company’s offerings of technologically advanced high-capacity air filters, thereby helping it stay ahead of the competition. The company’s investment in research and development in unique filters for automotive applications has resulted in PowerCore Filtration Technology for light-duty, heavy-duty, and off-road equipment.
PowerCore technology’s major advantages include higher efficiency than average conventional air filters, improved engine protection and contaminant encapsulation, and flexibility in filter shape and intake systems design and application. This advanced technology reduces the amount of filter space and thus the size of the air cleaner.
"The nanofiber filter media of Donaldson’s PowerCore is a great example of advancement in media design, with a sub-micron layer over the media substrate that provides better filtration ability," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Avijit Ghosh. "The fine fiber layer holds the small particles of dirt on the surface, and it prevents deeper entry into the filter media, increasing filter life."
Donaldson air filtration systems have been widely deployed by all major original equipment manufacturers and can be found in passenger cars, pick ups, vocational trucks, dump trucks, logging vehicles, construction equipment, and mining trucks. PowerCore is targeted at the premium segment and is popular in the "performance" segment of the aftermarket.
"Donaldson is constantly focused on building strong relationships with its distribution channel clients, which it has consistently supported with promotional campaigns and associated materials," notes Ghosh. "The company has also organized training and development programs for aftermarket technicians to educate them about the repair and replacement of filters."
Frost & Sullivan presents this Award each year to a company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. The recipient company has shown innovation by launching a broad line of emerging products and technologies.
